The world’s most elite athletes have conquered Spartan’s top obstacle races, but do they have what it takes to rule the world? The Spartan Beast World Championship was held in Northern Lake Tahoe, California September 28-29, 2019. Athletes from more than 30 countries competed at National Series Events and Regional Championships across the globe in hopes of qualifying for this event.
Our own Kristina Adams, Client Specialist at World Trend Financial, is currently ranked 20th in the world in her age group and qualified for this prestigious event! She has competed in the Sprint, Super and Beast races throughout this season traveling across the country and is a 3x Trifecta winner. She has made the podium three times this year and finished anywhere from 2nd to 19th place within her age group.
These races are not what you typically think of. The Spartan Sprint is a 3+ mile race, the Super is an 8+ mile race and the Beast is a 13+ mile race. Each of these is an obstacle course where the competitors must run, jump, swim, crawl, climb and carry their way through 20-35 obstacles over technical and dangerous terrain. Every course is unique throughout the country from flat venues in the south to the ski slopes of Killington, Vermont offering up over 6,500 feet of elevation gain. With each failed obstacle comes a game changing penalty of 30 burpees.
These races are frequently televised on ESPN and many of the Spartan ProTeam athletes can be seen competing on the CBS show Million Dollar Mile and NBC’s American Ninja Warrior.
Kristina is a member of the Iowa Spartan Team who sent an additional four athletes from Cedar Rapids who qualified as well, most of whom train with her at Farrells Extreme Body Shaping.
