1998 Tax Letter

28 December 1998

Dear Survivor of “Monicagate”:

What a year!  Just when you thought it could not get any worse, the morning paper arrives to prove you wrong.  This has left many questioning what this administration has accomplished.

Well, I believe it is obvious.  The Education President has delivered on his promise.  Consider the following:
  · Vocabulary skills have dramatically increased with many students adding words such as salacious to their lexicon.
  ·   Andrew Johnson is now remembered as a former president - not the founder of Johnson Wax.
  · “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” is now recognized as an impeachable offense  instead of a movie.

All in all, it was a year in which we acquired a true appreciation of Bob Seger’s immortal words, “wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then”.

Still, one has to be in awe of our ability to take everything in stride.  Perhaps it is a testament to our recognition that in the overall scheme of things, these matters pale when compared to the important issues in our life.  On that score, we have much for which to be thankful.

I hope you have enjoyed the holidays.  May the coming year find you and your loved ones grateful for all the blessings we are fortunate enough to take for granted.

This letter comes with our best wishes for peace and joy in the coming year.*

Best regards,
Timothy F. Terry
